My name is Stacey and I’m a 35 year old mum to two amazing children, 9 year old Lexie and 7 year old Hayden. I’ve been married to their Dad Mike for 2 years, although the poor bloke has endured me for 13 years now.
Not long before I met Mike, in 2005 I was in a car accident that although wasn’t serious, did leave me suffering with whip lash for a few months. I had managed to return to college and then work, however in the years to follow, I began suffering with other medical problems focused around pain which led to my diagnosis of fibromyalgia in 2012. Whether the car crash is what triggered my ailments I will never know, but I do know that was where the fun started.
In February 2016 my Fibro took a turn for the worse. At the time I was convinced something else was wrong with me and spent a year seeing doctor after doctor and having more tests than I can remember. I went from barely managing day to day life to not living at all as I started having tremors and I was so weak I was collapsing all the time. I ended up using crutches or a wheelchair to get around and lost most of my independence. This has had a huge impact on family life since and we are still trying to adapt three years on.
I have decided to start this blog to reach out to fellow chronic pain sufferers with one goal…hope. Cheesy I know but if my experiences can help just one person pick them self up, I will be happy. I do not intend to write advice, I just want to rant and laugh about all I’ve been through while dishing out credit to those who have helped me along the way. It hasn’t been an easy journey and as any of you know every day is a battle, each one different in its own way, but my kids make every struggle worth it.
